The clocks go back on Sunday
This week: pace of play and the Winter Policy, a local rule worth knowing, Jacob on how to play the 1st, and what's on at the club.

On the course Keep a good pace as the evenings close in With the clocks going back on Sunday 25 October, a steady pace of play matters more than ever. Please be mindful of the groups behind you and keep the round moving, so everyone can finish in daylight.
When the Winter Trolley and Buggy Policy is in operation, the Course Status on IG will say so, with the colour in use that day: green, amber or red. Winter mats: from 1 December From 1 December until 28 February, mats must be used on closely mown areas. Collect one from the Pro Shop or by the 1st tee, and return it to the basket beside the 18th green at the end of your round. |

Local rule of the week Unmarked ditches are red penalty areas All unmarked ditches on the course are to be treated as red penalty areas. The edge is where the ground breaks down to form the natural depression or ditch that may hold water. |

How to play the 1st The opening par 5
|
Jacob Hunter Head PGA Professional |
Par 5, 490 yards from the blue and white tees. “Tee shot should favour the left half of the fairway to take the stream and heather out of play. Long hitters can reach in two, but most will follow fairway and lay up, leaving a short iron to the green.” |
